Us

Amber and Duc are not ashamed to admit they used modern-day tools to meet each other. Amber's message hit Duc's inbox on November 26, 2005, just one day after he registered at Match.com. They had their first date on December 2 at a local Panera Bread and by December 16 they were official.

Amber lived in Philadelphia at the time she met Duc, but joined him in Jersey in 2007. In late 2009 they both found work in Ithaca, New York and currently reside there.

Engagement weekend was framed as a relaxing trip to the White Pig Bed & Breakfast in Schuyler, Virginia in celebration of their anniversary. Filled with delicious food and an educational trip to Monticello, the weekend would have been great in its own right. On December 21, 2008, the weekend ended with a proposal witnessed by the pigs at the sanctuary. They weren't impressed: No pooping was spared in Amber and Duc's honor.

Family

Amber's Family

Amber was born to Lawna Mickler and George Crawford on January 27, 1976. Amber's father died in 2006.  Amber has two younger sisters. Natalie Gilewski Tenneson was born on February 28, 1979 (daughter of Lawna and Joseph Gilewski). Amanda Carter was born on December 5, 1979 (daughter of Donna Jean Carter and George Crawford).

Amber's mother, now Lawna Fiducioso, resides in New Jersey with her husband Larry Fiducioso. Natalie and her husband Keith live in Florida with their daughter, Arabella. Amanda lives in Tennessee and is engaged to be married.

Duc's Family

Parents Nguyễn Đức Khánh and Nguyễn Anh Thư (Vietnamese names are listed family, middle, then given name) met in Pittsburgh, PA and were married August 18, 1979. They gave birth to Nguyễn Đức Sơn (who later officially became Ducson Nguyen based on years of clerical errors at school) on May 18, 1980, Nguyễn Đức Vũ on May 2, 1982, and Nguyễn Đức Quỳnh Trang on April 20, 1985.

Khanh and Anh Thu currently reside in Galloway, New Jersey. Vu and his wife Ha live in Georgia. Quynh currently lives in Manhattan.

Wedding Party

Natalie Gilewski Tenneson

Amber was the maid of honor in Natalie's wedding in 2003. They grew up hair pulling, playing Barbies, and having normal sibling rivalry. Once Amber went away to college, things changed and Amber and Natalie grew much closer together (even though separated by many miles now).

Heather McDermond

Heather and Amber met in graduate school in Philadelphia, both pursuing degrees in clinical-counseling psychology. They've been friends since the day they met and attended many APA (American Psychological Association) conferences together. Amber was Heather's maid of honor in her awesome Jewish-Catholic wedding, also in 2003.

Vu Nguyen

Vu and Duc saw an evolution that started with fighting as children to living together in college. Now they are separated by hundreds of miles, but Vu's photography prowess, audiophile knowledge and grasp of all things automotive still serve as inspiration to his older brother.

Brian Leichtnam

Duc and Brian have been best friends since they met freshman year of high school in health class. They have gone from playing Nintendo 64 games together, to attending college at Rutgers together, to working at CSC together (living together at various times through college and their working years), and into their responsible adult lives, both joyous and trying.
